How to hide affiliate link
Saturday, March 22, 2008
Yesterday I visited a site that hides the affiliate links. Why hide the affiliate links? This is done to prevent affiliate link hijackers to steal your affiliate commission.
To hide the affiliate sites so that the link doesn't appear in the browser bar, there are few things you need to do.
You can us a cloaking script that is free. There is one called Affiliate Link Cloaker (ALC). The site owner simply asks that you subscribe to their newsletter.
Or you can use the Tiny Url, just like how PayPerPost is doing it. It is a very simple way to hide links. Just visit http://tinyurl.com and convert your affiliates link there. Registration is not necessary.
Another way is to use javascript redirect. Using this method, in less than a second a viewer will be redirected to a page, in this case, your affiliate link. You may want to check this JavaScript Redirection code.
That's it for now.
